Brad Pitt is set to reprise his role as Cliff Booth from Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in a new spin-off directed by David Fincher. Titled The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, the film will dive into the life of Booth, a Hollywood stuntman with a mysterious past, as he navigates the evolving entertainment industry.
The film is expected to have a two-week IMAX release starting on November 25, before making its streaming debut on Netflix on December 23. The screenplay for the spin-off was crafted by Quentin Tarantino, who decided not to take on directorial duties for this project. Tarantino has expressed his preference for his final directorial undertaking not to be a sequel, although he remains passionate about exploring the character of Cliff Booth further.
Set in 1977, eight years after the events of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the film will explore Booth’s adaptation to a transformed Hollywood landscape. The movie boasts a star-studded cast including Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian. The original film, which took place in Los Angeles during the late 1960s, featured Pitt alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie.
Helming the project, David Fincher brings his directorial expertise from acclaimed films such as Fight Club, Zodiac, The Social Network, and Gone Girl, as well as his work on Netflix series like House of Cards and Mindhunter. This collaboration marks a significant reunion between Pitt and the character of Cliff Booth, with Fincher’s influence promising a fresh creative direction for the narrative.
Quentin Tarantino’s body of directorial work includes celebrated films like Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Django Unchained, and The Hateful Eight. The upcoming spin-off not only highlights the enduring appeal of Tarantino’s characters but also showcases Fincher’s distinctive style, marking an exciting development for both fans of the original film and new audiences.
