Polish President Karol Nawrocki has put forward a proposal to deepen economic and strategic ties between Poland and the United States, emphasizing the potential for Poland to host a regional service hub for American military equipment. This initiative was announced during the Polish-American Economic Summit in New York.
Addressing attendees, Nawrocki highlighted Poland’s ambition to expand its role in energy distribution across Central and Eastern Europe by leveraging U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies. He underscored the importance of not just acquiring American defense technology but also involving Polish companies in the production and servicing of such equipment. Notably, Nawrocki proposed the establishment of a European PAC-3 service center in Poland, utilizing local industry and expertise.
The Polish president also discussed plans for the country’s first nuclear power plant and the increasing importation of LNG from the United States, which positions Poland as a key player in regional energy supply. With Poland already channeling some U.S. gas to Ukraine, Nawrocki expressed intentions to solidify Poland’s status as a regional energy hub.
In addition to energy and defense, Nawrocki cited opportunities for collaboration in the automotive and pharmaceutical sectors, suggesting that the Port of Gdańsk could become a vital entry point for American goods into Central Europe. This infrastructure could also support reconstruction efforts in Ukraine, enhancing Poland’s logistical importance in the region.
