Former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has launched a new parliamentary group called Rozwój Plus (Development Plus), following a split from the Law and Justice (PiS) party. This newly established group emphasizes its dedication to conservative principles and assures voters that it will uphold its values. Łukasz Schreiber, speaking on behalf of the group after its official registration in parliament, emphasized that Rozwój Plus would remain faithful to its supporters and refrain from engaging in personal attacks against PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński.
The group, which consists of 40 MPs and one senator, aims to continue the work initiated by the Rozwój Plus association, serving as a political platform. According to Morawiecki, this platform will not only maintain its policy and research efforts but also focus on significant issues affecting the nation, such as healthcare, fuel prices, and government accountability. The intention is to pivot away from internal political conflicts and address pressing concerns that impact Polish citizens.
Jarosław Kaczyński, the leader of the PiS party, described the separation as expected yet regrettable, noting that it occurs during a challenging period for the country. Despite the split, the new group asserts its commitment to constructive political engagement and aims to provide solutions to the problems faced by Poland, rather than becoming embroiled in party infighting.
