Zelensky Thanks US for Starlink Restoration, Urges Air Defense Missile Support

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed gratitude to the United States for restoring Starlink and Starshield satellite internet services, while also urging the swift delivery of air defence missiles. In a recent video address, Zelensky emphasized the continued need for military shipments from the United States and European partners, particularly ammunition for Patriot systems, to defend against Russian ballistic missile attacks targeting Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.

The restoration of satellite internet services is seen as crucial for Ukraine’s frontline logistics and its capacity to counter Russian drone attacks. Zelensky acknowledged the efforts of US lawmakers, officials, media representatives, and the administration in resolving the issue, highlighting the significance of these services in Ukraine’s defense strategy.

Additionally, Zelensky voiced hope for a humanitarian operation in Oleshky, a town in the Russian-controlled part of Ukraine’s Kherson region. This operation, facilitated by US-mediated efforts, aims to establish a local ceasefire to allow the delivery of food and medical supplies to civilians and provide a safe passage for individuals wishing to leave the conflict zone.

The proposed humanitarian mission involves creating a safe corridor through mine-clearing efforts, addressing the challenges posed by mined roads in the area. Zelensky affirmed Ukraine’s readiness to cooperate and expressed optimism that US mediation could help make the humanitarian mission feasible.
