Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is set to visit Việt Nam from October 24 to 26, following an invitation from Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng. This visit aims to enhance cooperation between the two nations across various sectors, including trade, education, science, culture, and politics.
The diplomatic relationship between Việt Nam and Poland dates back to February 4, 1950, and both countries celebrated the 75th anniversary of their partnership in 2025. Over the years, their ties have been bolstered through diplomatic dialogue, economic collaboration, and educational and cultural exchanges.
Tusk’s visit comes on the heels of former Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính’s official trip to Poland in January 2025, where discussions were held to upgrade bilateral relations to a strategic partnership. This upcoming trip is expected to further explore economic opportunities and strengthen cooperation in key areas.
In 2025, bilateral trade between Việt Nam and Poland reached approximately $3.94 billion, marking a 14.8% increase from the previous year. Major Vietnamese exports to Poland include electronics, machinery, garments, footwear, coffee, and other agricultural products, while Poland exports machinery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food products to Việt Nam.
Both countries are keen on pursuing closer commercial ties and expanding collaboration in education, scientific research, and cultural exchanges. Tusk’s visit underscores the ongoing efforts by Việt Nam and Poland to deepen their longstanding relationship and further their shared economic and diplomatic interests.
